MGA Cast Stone Project Gallery — New Construction Projects Restoration Projects
Project: SCSU Science Building
The SCSU science building comprises of several hundred base panels at an average of 7' x 3'-8'', large window mullions, several bandings, sills and an upper roof top band that acts as a sun shade. The design intent was to create a science building that was visually stimulating and complimented the research that was being done inside. The lower base panels have over 100 different molecular patterns, the upper banding consist of over a dozen sound wave patterns and both ends of the building are accompanied by large radius rotunda of sound waves. There were over 5 different methods of mold construction used to create different and complex profiles. This mix design was a combination of local aggregates and specialty white stone from Connecticut.
